Idle in summer

listen
to the soft murmur
of the breeze
sliding
fluidly through
the bamboos
creating
a melodious hum
gentle leaves
tossed lightly in the air
the lazy sun
hiding behind thick clouds
from afar
every now and then
a child’s pure squeal of joy
peals
the cool silence
of the hills
the subdued sapphire sky
a perfect canopy
of ancient trees
while I lay still
on the lush grass
a book opened wide
spread over my chest
I idly close my eyes
while the sweet whiff
of the wind
carried me
to a distant land
where summer
never ends.
